Features to know about

Warm Battery Core for Fast Starts

In freezing temps, your battery loses strength fast and struggles to crank the engine. This heating pad raises the battery's core 60–70°F above outside temps so your engine turns over strong instead of dragging. No more worrying about a dead battery slowing you down because you can count on it to start when you need it.

Slim and Flexible Wrap-Around Design

Instead of bulky warmers, this low-profile blanket wraps around your battery case without getting in the way of cables or other components under the hood. An adjustable strap with a snap-together buckle keeps the wrap secure, and the Thinsulate material holds heat evenly around the case. You get reliable performance in freezing temps without wrestling with a cumbersome warmer.

Simple, Safe Connection

The grounded 30" cord plugs into any standard 120V household outlet. Just route the cord to a convenient plug-in point and keep your battery protected all season long. The CSA certification means you can count on safe operation through the winter.

When I first tested out the Zerostart Heating Pad, the first thing I thought was, wow, this thing gets hot. It’s definitely built to warm up a battery in harsh, cold conditions, and I’m really looking forward to trying it out once it starts snowing here in Missouri. A lot of people compare these to the KAT’s heater line since they’re pretty similar products, but what really stood out to me was Zerostart’s customer service. I emailed their tech line with a few questions, and they got back to me within minutes that kind of support makes a big difference

by:

Have not installed it yet but quality is great and can't wait to use it it will suit my needs well

by:

Works as advertised. Air temp was 0 degrees and the truck started up just fine.

  • Is There A Heater Pad To Keep Lithium Batteries Warm In Cold Winter Weather?
Hey Wes, I’d avoid it. All of the battery heaters we carry, such as the 50w # ZE77FR, 80w # ZE87FR, and 160w # ZE27FR Zerostart pads, are not recommended for lithium-ion batteries because they heat too directly on the case. Lithium cells need controlled, internal heating. Look for a lithium-specific warmer or battery with built-in heat instead. Some (mostly higher end) lithium batteries actually have an internal heater or self heater to take care of that. At minimum, most lithium batteries...

  • How To Keep 2 Group 31 AGM Truck Batteries Warm In Winter - Diesel Pickup
Yes, Randy - the Zerostart 160-Watt Pad Blanket for batteries # ZE27FR is built exactly for Group 31 batteries. It’s a 72-inch wrap designed to fit those large cases and will raise the battery core about 60–70F above outside temps so you keep full cranking power in the cold. Just don’t use it on lithium or ABS-cased batteries. This setup will allow both of your batteries to stay warm if they are next to each other. If they aren't, you'll need two smaller ones like # ZE87FR. Do you already...

  • Can I Start Truck While Battery Heater Is Still Plugged In? - Maintaining Batteries In Winter
Yes Deedee, you can crank the engine with the heater plugged in (it doesn’t interfere electrically). Just remember to unplug before driving off so you don’t damage the cord. Many owners route the plug near the grille for easy access so they can run an extension cord to it, and easily disconnect and drive off. What heater were you looking into? We have some sizes for common batteries such as # ZE77FR for group 22NF, 26, 26R, 51, 51R, and 70 batteries, # ZE87FR for group 24, 24F, 24H, 24R,...

  • How Long Is The Power Cord On ZeroStart Battery Heater Pads?
Good morning Ken! The battery heating pads from Zerstart, such as 50W # ZE77FR, 80W # ZE87FR, and 160W # ZE27FR, all include a 30-inch grounded cord. It’s long enough to reach the edge of most hoods or generator compartments, but you can safely use an outdoor-rated extension if needed. Are you planning to plug in through a timer or direct outlet? Most people route the cord to the grille, then use an extension cord to plug in overnight.

  • What Kind Of Warranty Does Zerostart Battery Heater Come With?
Megan, every Zerostart heater - the 50w # ZE77FR, 80w # ZE87FR, and 160-watt # ZE27FR - comes with a 1-year limited warranty and full CSA safety certification. They’re oil, acid, and heat-resistant, built to last season after season. Have you used Zerostart gear before, or is this your first time getting your setup winter-ready?

  • Can I Leave ZeroStart Battery Heater Pad Plugged In 24/7 During Winter?
Marissa, you sure can - these Zerostart pads are built to stay plugged in through a cold spell without any problem. Just keep them running only when it’s below freezing, since they don’t shut off automatically. Once the days start to warm up, unplug or put them on a timer outlet so your battery doesn’t get overheated. How long do your cold snaps usually last where you’re at? If all winter is below freezing, there's no reason you can't just leave it plugged in during the entire cold season....

  • Recommended Battery Blanket for a 2015 Ford F-150
Hey Steve. For your 2015 Ford F-150, you'll want the Zerostart Battery Heating Pad - 120V item # ZE77FR. This 28" long heating pad will wrap around your battery to warm the battery's core to 60-70° above ambient temperature. It is designed to work in sub-zero temperatures and is powered by a standard 120v grounded plug with a 30" cord. What are the dimensions of your F-150's battery? We also have a longer item # ZE87FR which is 36" long but you can't overlap it. You can add this information...

  • Can Zerostart Battery Heating Pad ZE27FR Be Installed Over An Existing Thermal Blanket?
Hello James, good question, glad you asked. No, you cannot place the Zerostart Battery Heating Pad # ZE27FR over an existing heating pad or thermal blanket. Doing that could cause hot spots to develop and the pad could overheat which would ruin the pad and could potentially damage your battery. You will need to remove the existing thermal blanket before installing the battery heating pad. Also, it is important that the heating pad does not overlap on itself. This could also cause overheating....

  • Is There A Way To Keep RV House Batteries Warm During Winter Storage?
You can absolutely do that, Tim. The 80-Watt # ZE87FR works great for Group 24–27 batteries that most RVs use (some even use group 31, which this heater fits as well). Just wrap it around each battery and plug into shore power or a timer so it cycles a few hours at a time when temps below freezing. Keeping those cores warm will help the converter maintain charge more efficiently. Are your batteries flooded or AGM? That can affect how long you leave it plugged in. This will not be good...

  • Do Zerostart Battery Heat Pads Have Built-In Thermostat Or Timer?
Good question Zane. None of the Zerostart battery heating pads include a thermostat. They provide constant, steady heat whenever plugged into 120V AC, so it’s best to run them on a plug-in timer or a thermo-switch that kicks on below 32F or a timer that kicks on during the night when it's coldest. That gives you automatic control and extends pad life. Have you already got a timer in mind? Also, what size battery do you have? Here are some options to look at: - # ZE77FR for group 22NF,...

  • Which Battery Heat Blanket Is Best For Camper Depp Cycle Batteries Parked In Minnesota?
Good call, Bill. Minnesota winters are no joke. For a single 12-volt Group 27 deep-cycle, the 80-Watt # ZE87FR is the perfect match. It keeps the battery warm without wasting power, and you can plug it into a timer to run overnight when temps dip below freezing. If you ever add a second battery, the 160-watt version # ZE27FR is a great option since it's big enough to wrap around/between two batteries. Do you keep your camper plugged in through the off-season?

  • Do Battery Heaters Wrap Around Battery Or Sit Under The Battery?
Hey Nick! It’s a full wrap-around blanket style, not an under-tray heater. The # ZE87FR uses Thinsulate insulation and a buckle strap to hold it tight, so it surrounds the battery evenly and won’t get in the way of cables. What size battery do you have and what vehicle is it? I'll make sure this is the best style battery warmer for it.

  • Can I Wrap Battery Warmer Pad Around 2 Marine Batteries On Fishing Boat During Winter?
Not quite, Susan - the 80-Watt Zerostart # ZE87FR fits one mid-sized battery at a time, so you’ll want a separate wrap for each. If you’d rather cover both in one go, the longer 160-Watt # ZE27FR 72 inches can handle side-by-side setups and is what I recommend for more efficiency and ease of use. Either way, you’ll love how the batteries will stay at full capacity with the warmers on them. Do you store the boat outside or keep it under cover during winter?

  • Availability Of 12v Battery Heater For 24 Series Battery
Hey David, thanks for reaching out. We carry quite a few battery heaters, but none that operate directly off 12 volts. There is a solid alternative though, especially if your batteries sit out on the trailer tongue. Instead of trying to add an external heater, you can upgrade to a lithium battery that already has an integrated heating system built in. A great example is the Go Power Sun Cycle Advanced Lithium RV Battery # GP99QR. It has a smart DC heater inside the battery itself, so it...
